Frequently Asked Questions

long cat

Cats near food isn’t that unhygienic?

All food will be prepared in a safe food area away from the cats and staff handling food will not be near the cats. The cats are will be separated from the Cafe by walls and glass partitions. Visitors will be required to walk through an exclusion zone to enter the cats area. It will be the individual person’s choice if they choose to take their food into the cat area. Cafe staff will not serve food in the cat area.

Can I bring my own cat?

Unfortunately no. This could potentially be distressing for the Cat Cafe cats as well as your cat.

Will the cats be available for adoption?

No, the Cafe Cats will be permanent residents of the Capital Cat Cafe. We will support local rescue and animal welfare groups and will promote and advertise cats available for adoption, however laws in Australia mean that it would be very difficult to run a Cat Cafe as an adoption centre. Also having cats coming in and out of a multi-cat environment can be unsettling for some cats and many cats take time to adapt to new surroundings and. The individual cats own personalities and needs are most important to us and we want to provide a safe, secure, relaxed and happy environment for our cats to live in.
